AWARDS

Our personal car we call "Hotwood." We thought this car up & built it from scratch from a 1934 Ford Woodie. It took us 5 years to do, from 1985-1990.

This fantastic handmade, one-of-a-kind vehicle has been picked as one of the top ten (#4 actually) cars built in the United Stats by Hot Rod Magazine for 1991. It has also been picked by Hot Rod Magazine to be one of 20 all-time trend-setting & influential cars of the past 20 years (September 1993 issue).

Some of it's attributes are custom, hand-fabricated chassis built by Chuck Lombardo of California Street Rod. It utilized "just a hobby" rails & Brizio's tube cross-member. Suspension is polished stainless steel 4-bar setup with a 9" Ford rear end & a 5 1/2" drop chrome front axle. Chrome springs & shock all the way around. Stainless steel anti-sway bar. Magoo's 4-wheel power-assisted disc brakes & Boyd's wheels. Vega cross Steering. 350 Chevy 350 turbo trans. All fuel lines, trans lines, brake lines are polished steel. Babbs polished brass 5-core radiator. Handmade polished aluminum fan shroud by Steve Davis.

This vehicle is registered as it was in 1934 as one of the 2900 originally built station wagons. The all steel body has been re-vamped by Dan Fink & Steve Davis. Aluminum 3-piece hood built by Dan Fink, by hand. The custom-built wood body was fabricated by "The Wood N' Carr" using mostly fiddleback & birdseye maple, with purple heart wood inlay down beltline. Solid hand-carved one-of-a-kind dash, using mahogany, maple & purple heart. All Gauges & stereo are mounted above the windshield. A full full cage has been employed also, as a safety feature & the occasional run at the nostalgia drags (Hotwood is the first woodie to make a quarter mile run at the Bakersfield Dragstrip). The car is black lacquer on the sheet metal, black enamel under the fenders & on the chassis. There is vintage air, air-conditioning, handmade tilt column. This is one of the finest examples of a street rod woodie in the world today. This car has been featured in French, Japanese, British, Australian auto magazines.
